Christmas at the Grotto: We went to this fun little place in Portland that has lights and stuff and it was so fun! It was beautifully lit up and had a nativity scene. Connor had so much fun looking at the lights and stuff.

Connor had so much fun with the toy from Grammy and Papa Jones that he had to play for a little while before finishing his other presents!

If you haven't glanced around my blog lately, look up a little bit from this posting and see if there is something new... YUP! Here's the big announcement! We are 8 weeks (and odd days) along! :) Connor will be a big brother! All I know right now is the due date is Feb. 23rd. My doctor's appointments are coming up soon, but I haven't had one. I just had the blood test done. Which is the same due date as Connor's! (Pure coincidence! I promise) Just so we're clear. :) (If you doubt go back on my blog to July 13th 2009 and it says on there.)

More news to come! (if you are wondering when we will know for boy or girl, it will probably be in Oct., since that is when we found out for Connor)

Connor was at Grandma Nancy's house and climbing up her trunk and falling onto the couch, when he fell off and sliced his ear. It's kind of hard to see, but it's right where the ear connects to his head. No stitches or anything but it was his first bloody owie. He's done pretty good and its already started healing, but it was kind of scary for him.

Mother's day was a good day. Connor has been sick but he did well. Mike made waffles for breakfast and gave me a shirt from Wicked and Wii Fit (which I am way excited for). We went to the Hokanson house for dinner which was fun. Lots of playing time!

The Wicked shirt was from when we went to the Musical last weekend. It was so amazing! I have listened to the music for years and so it was fun to actually see the storyline to go with it. :) Thanks for humoring me honey! It was Mike, our friend Corrie and me. It was kind of hetic getting there, but totally worth every minute!

So Connor didn't sleep very well last night and the last time he woke up he was really warm (103) and so Mike and I got ready to take him to the doc in the box. I checked his temp again and it was at 100.6 (only like ten minutes later). So we waited an hour or so until Mike went to work about 8 and then I took him in. They said his temp was only 98.5 (but I guess his ibprofen finally kicked in). He did not want to get his temp taken or the other thing. (i think it was his pulse). I took this picture while we were waiting for the Doc.

For all those who know my baby this is so not normal. He can't stand be cuddled usually. Too many things to explore i think. Poor baby has a double ear infection. Yay for antibiodics. Hopefully he'll be feeling better soon.

There are my flowers from valentines day. Mike got them for me, except the Rose. That came from Ray ( Mike's Dad). For Valentines Day we went to Nancy and Ray's House and had yummy dinner. My 'present' was we bought Wicked tickets! I'm so excited to go! :)

And last but not least our new couch! We have been looking and found some for 500 or 600, and then a friend told us that they had bought some furniture for cheap at Freddies. So we went and looked and found this little gem for only 350! What a steal :) We love out new couch. Its very comfortable and soft and big! :)

While in Boise this weekend Connor got to spend lots of time with his aunts and uncles and not so much time with mom and dad, so he wasn't sleeping very good. this was taken as we were leaving to come back to Washington.

I did a ribbon loop for the top to put it onto the curtain rod

They are too big for the window but i did that on purpose so i didn't have to make new curtains if or when we move... (not that we are planning on it right this moment but for the future).

My big baby! His doctor's appointment today went well. The doctor said to watch him for ear infections because his left ear was a little red. But here are the stats on my baby.

Length about 30 inches

Weight about 23 pounds

Head about 18 inches

He loves to crawl. He has his 'can I get away with this' crawl, his normal crawl, and his 'super' crawl. He loves to stand up to things and climb on the couch. Not quite walking yet but pretty close! His new trick is getting in the bathroom to open the toliet seat and playing in the water... Super fun!

Connor's was a pea pod for halloween. I found it at Goodwill for just a couple dollars and then (since it was too short) I found some green cargo's at Target for 5 bucks. I think he was cute!

So Connor's hair was sticking up after his nap yesterday and so I decided to spike it. He didn't want to look at the camera but here's the best picture i could get...

Monday night we decided to carve our pumpkins... Here is mike sorting the pumpkin seeds so we can make them yummyness to eat!

He's getting so big! He already has two teeth and is getting more (at least that is what I am hoping!)

Eclipse

I went with Lisa and Danielle to Eclipse today and I really enjoyed it (except for the girls behind us that talked and giggled through the whole movie). I loved the new dynamic of character and I especially enjoyed the actor who played Riley. While reading the books there really isn't much written, but in the short story that was written called the Second Short life of Bree Tanner, I really enjoyed the dynamic that he brought to the story. I have to admit the only thing other than girls that bugged me about the movie is the hair in the movie. Esme's hair is dark and Jasper's is just plain wierd. Which I don't get but that's ok. This movie is better than the previous two. A two thumbs up from me!

Update for the last little while

I know its been a while since I've written but things are kind of crazy!

Mike has gotten a new job and a raise. He now works as registrar. I still work at a manager but I've been trying really hard to get my complex full. I'm doing good since i only have one vacancy and one notice. Tim graduated from dental school (if you want pics you'll have to go to Britt's blog. My family came up and stayed for a few days which was fun! We played hard and hardly slept but it was worth it.

In other news I read a new series called the hunger games and I would really recommend it to anyone looking for a good read! They're really good! and one of my all time favorites are the Abhorsen books by Garth Nix. A good read if you like fantasy!

These last few weeks have also been kinda crazy because I have been helping in Primary (not called just helping). I have been teaching the sunbeams which are very energetic. I've been teaching the last four weeks because the teacher moved and the new one hasn't been called yet. I also gave a talk today which went well. I got nervous but then again I always do. If you really want to read it then I can send a copy, just let me know!

Please pass this on to those that have children that are using these medications.

Life is crazy as I'm sure most of you know. Connor is growing like a weed which is to be expected. At two weeks he weighed 9lbs 1 oz and was 22 inches long. So he has gained a little bit.

I'm doing okay. I got a bladder infection last week which was not fun, because I didn't know I had one until it spread to the rest of my body causing a high fever and chills and shakes. yuck!

Onto better news... We're blessing Connor this weekend which will be fun with all the family that is coming. I will try to remember to take some pictures so I can post them!

Connor Jordan Hokanson was born March 2, 2010 (03/02/10) at 10:12pm. He was 8 lbs 7oz and 20 1/2 inches long. We are so glad to have him. I will post more pictures later but I thought I should update you all!

False Alarm

So friday was the baby shower at Mike's work which was super fun, but I have no pictures right now. I will post when I get pictures. After the baby shower I wasn't feeling very good, so I laid down for a while. When I got back up I was still feeling really sick (headache, nausea, lightheaded, mild contractions) so at my mom's insistence I called my doctor who told me to go to the hospital (since it was time for them to close) to get check for preeclampsia (which is when the mom gets sick). So I called brittany to see if she would come get me since Mike wasn't off of work. She ended up getting caught in traffic so they arrived home about the same time. So for the next 5 hours this is what we did...

The blue band is a monitor for contractions, the pink for the baby's heart rate. The nurse put me on a an IV for fluids after drawing blood. My hands and feet were pretty swollen so the nurse had a hard time finding my veins which was not very fun.

As it turns out I may have had a little bit of a flu bug, but they said everything looked really good so they didn't induce me (which is good and bad). So we went home. Saturday I woke up ok, but I didn't stay well and by the time we were supposed to go to Stake Conference I wasn't doing so well and we didn't go. Sunday I felt great! I got stuff done (nesting urge) and was good. So It was defintetly an interesting weekend. Tomorrow is my doctor's appointment and we'll see what he says.

Sorry to those who follow but nothing super exciting has happened the past couple weeks. Doctor appointment went well, baby looks good so we'll see in the next 5 weeks when he decides to visit. Mike just got a raise, so his job is working out well for him. My job has its good days and bad, so it depends on the day. I get pretty bored during the day so its a constant battle with trying to entertain myself. I did find this new website called make it and love it. It has some super cute ideas. Its just getting the stuff to make them!

Holidays

We spent Christmas at home in Washington which was relaxing. Connor woke us up at 6:55 in the morning by kicking his dad... :) he's excited for Christmas already. With lots of family and food it was fun! Nothing too new has been happening yet. Baby is doing well and we have about two months left and are getting excited for him to meet the world. :) New Years is about the same as Christmas, just hanging out and relaxing. So Happy Holidays to everyone!

PS Congrats to Kimi Lou who is engaged! :) We're excited for you!

It was super busy to have my family here because saturday was the wedding in seattle. and most of that day was filled with stuff for that. Saturday night we went to my other cousin Audra's house and stayed there with the whole family (which was like 15 people or so) plus an extra because Ashley brought her boyfriend. Sunday was church and back to seattle for a family luncheon with Cami's family. Sunday night we drove back to Portland/Vancouver. Monday we hung out for a little while and then went to Britt's and went bowling. Monday night we went and did pictures which was fun but long. Tuesday everyone got up and left early. Mike has to work so us going with them just didnt work.

So fun, but crazy weekend!

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving was super fun with lots of people, food and laughter. We stayed in Washington because Mike only got Thanksgiving day off.

The day after was the Hokanson girl traditional black friday shopping day.

We started off the day at JCPenny at 4am with some killer deals on christmas presents...

Next was Target....

We had lunch at a place called Chevy's which was a little spicy for me but was good other than that.

Weekly Update

I had my doctor's appointment this week which was a nice break from the new job. It wasn't very fun however. I went early because now that I am 26 weeks they wanted to do the glucose testing. That in and of itself wasn't too horrible except getting the blood drawn. What was bad is the rogame shot that I got in addition to getting the swine flu shot. If you don't know what the rogame shot is, its for expectant mothers who are RH -, so people who have O- or A- or AB- blood and their husband is RH + . I have O- blood, so they gave me the shot. The worst thing about it is that they give you the shot in your bum... Talk about soreness. So two shots and 6 vials of blood later... But the doctors visit itself went well. He said the babies heartbeat is a little faster but that is quite possible from the large amounts of sugar they gave me for the glucose test. I measure at 27 inches which is right about where i should be. They say you should have one inch for every week.

Other than that this week has just been interesting.... It hasn't slowed down yet from exciting things happening. We has someone try to steal our extra car the other night, which of course was interesting. The guy was trying to start it when Mike heard him and ran downstairs to make sure he didnt get too far with it. The guy made up some story about trying to take his friend's truck to fix the starting problem. He seemed to be making up alot on the spot but Mike let him go anyway. Mike of course was paranoid the rest of the night and slept on the couch to make sure the guy didn't come back to try again. It was a long night for both of us.

Right now we are just trying to get through one day at a time. This is definitely a learning experience for both of us. But we are just doing the best that we can.

Saturday's Excitment

So saturday morning mike and I had every intention of sleeping late and getting those much needed hours of rest that we had been lacking. Much to our dismay, at 7:15am we had a knock on the door. Mike actually heard the knock and shook me awake so i could go see what the person needed (being the manager and all). I opened, the door bleary eyed and still trying to wake my brain up, to find one of my tenants. He then proceeded to tell me that a car had just hit the side of one the buildings and the police were on the way to come make a report. So I hurried to get dressed while explaining to Mike why I wasn't coming back to my nice warm bed. I went down to the apartment building to see this....

The car of course was no where to be seen. We had a witness who saw the whole thing and he said the car had been doing at least a hundred coming down a very short street, and hit the breaks just before the stop sign across the street from the apartment complex. His breaks did nothing except to skid him across the intersection where he hit the curb and flipped a 180 degree turn and smashed into the building backwards. He then promptly drove off down the street that was going the opposite direction.

And if that wasn't bad enough, i stood out in the cold for 45 minutes waiting for the police to come. Some how the address had gotten mixed up and the police had gone to the wrong apartments.

What a way to spend a saturday morning!

I know its been forever since I posted but I was without internet for a little while and its been kind of crazy!

Summary of what's been happening:

I went to Boise for my mom's birthday which was a lot of fun. We had a party friday and then saturday all of us went to DIII which is the band and colorguard competition where Kaytlen and the rest of the Centennial Marching Band placed Third! YAY for them!

The week after I got a job working as an Apartment Manager in Vancouver, so Mike and I moved out of his parents house (with a loooottt of help). We are pretty much moved in now. Thanks a bunch to Brittany and Matthew and Nancy!

My birthday was in the middle of moving, so we had Panda Express and I got lots of fun gifts. Thanks to all!

For halloween Mike and I went to Calie's house ( a good friend of ours we met though Brittany). It was a super fun party! :) with lots of super cute costumes.

This week has just been insane trying to learn my new job and getting the house put together. I will post pictures as soon as I get a camera!

The ultrasound was so much fun! We had both grandma's there and mike was able to get off work so he was there too! We found out that we are going to have a little baby boy and we are so excited! Things are kind of crazy so I will post again later! :D

Birthday weekend!

It was Ray's birthday this saturday (Mike's dad) and for his birthday he wanted to go to Dairy Queen which was super yummy. Michael, Danelle, Nancy, Ray, and I had fun because it's one of the few places that has a walk up window. After that we went to Star Trek. Nancy was the only one who hadn't seen it yet, but it was what Ray wanted to do on his birthday so we went. As we walked up to the window Michael noticed a sign that said they were doing a raffle for a Star Trek t-shirt. We thought it was cool but never expected to win anything of course. Lo and behold Nancy had the winning ticket (the one person who hadn't seen it). They also gave away Angel and Demons t-shirts but we just got the Star Trek one. It was fun, and I still love that movie.

In other news Mike has a job for three days. M-W he is working at a clinic of some kind entering in charts. We are hoping this will end up more permanent but we'll have to wait and see. Friday is my ultrasound where i find out what the baby is. My mom Susan is coming over to spend some time with us, and of course be there for the ultrasound which will be fun.

Doctor's appointment

I had my doctor's appointment today. It was two hours long. We heard the baby's heartbeat at 145 bpm and they did blood work since i haven't done any blood work since i have been pregnant. I have an ultrasound in two weeks and my mom will come to see it. It will be fun! Michael is still looking for a job and other than that nothing much has happened. Just working towards finding a job.

This has been a crazy last month or so. We have moved in with Michael's parents and are waiting to hear on a couple jobs Mike has applied for and hoping for the best. For the last three weeks Mike and I went back to Idaho to work the Western Idaho Fair which was hard but fun. We both worked ourselves out of our minds... but we are back again! We just got a new dresser set with a matching head board.

For happier news Gummi Bear and I offically have Washington State Insurance!!! I am just waiting for the paperwork to call a doctor (who will probably yell at me for not having gone in since my ten week, which I am now 15 weeks).

Other than that just working hard trying to find a job so we can get an apartment. Life is fun!!! :D

Ultrasound!!!

We had our first ultrasound just before leaving Rexburg. Here's a close-up of our baby (code named Gummi Bear (Gummi for short) based on a comment made by the doctor performing the ultrasound). I'm also posting a video clip of Gummi moving that I pulled from the DVD the doctor gave us of the ultrasound.

Graduation

I graduated with my associates on thursday. My family came up to help us pack and move and they came to watch me walk the line. I am now offically graduated with an associates in General Studies.

Well it's been crazy this semester. Working and going to school is hard. Mike is still working for the townhomes. We have two weeks left in Rexburg. We also just found out that we are pregnant. The tentative due date is February 22-23. We will find out more in just a few weeks. I have my first ultrasound July 24th, the day after school gets out. That all the time I have right now but I will try to post agian soon.

I know it has been forever since I have posted but things are really busy right now.

Quick Update:
I am in school (16 credits) and working part time (20hours a week). Not much time for anything else.
Mike is working for a temp agency holding a sign for some townhomes.
We went to Washington, Memorial weekend and took Lisa and Kaytlen with us. We had a ton of fun and here are some pictures.

This is the last week of the semester... Can you believe its finally here? Mike will be walking on friday for graduation. We are both excited for him to be done. Bachelor's degree in psychology!!! I on the other hand, have one more semester before I will graduate with my associates of generals. IT's amazing how slow it goes until its done... then it just seems to have flown by! Nancy and Ray and Lisa will be coming down (Lisa for school) and they will come to graduation. We plan to have fun especially as soon as Finals are done. :D YAY! Soon soon soon....I will post pictures for this next weekend as soon as I can. I hope everyone is doing well. Love all

This last weekend Mike and I went to Boise for a wedding. It was an interesting set of circumstances but it was a fun weekend. We helped with the luncheon and then went over to my brothers to play for a while. In the evening I did projects with my mom. A set of Easter blocks and a glass block that says SPRING! Not that it is spring in Rexburg yet but I'll chalk it up to wishful hoping :D It has had the wierdest weather this last week. Sun and then snow, warm and then cold. Not excatly waht I am hoping for in March. Kaytlen (my little sister) decided she would rather come to the 'burg than go camping and she has been having fun doing homework and going to classes today. I will put up pictures later. :D

Mike had a concert this last weekend with Wycliffe Gordon. It was especially fun for him because he and another band member (Keven Lewis) were the chauffeur for him from Thursday night till Sunday morning. They really enjoyed spending time with him.

Mike even got to solo with Wycliffe. I was unable to take pictures of the concert but there will be some coming soon of Mike with him.

Jennie is having a baby shower on satruday and I decided to be ambitious and make a diaper cake. I think it turned out pretty well for just following Britt's directions on her blog :D

I needed something to do with the extra diapers so I gave her a basket with some of them. I loved the idea that mike had. Duct tape bow to hold it all together :D

New Baby

Elliot Graham Roa (friends of ours new baby) was born February 28th at 9:18 pm. He was 8lbs 1oz and was 20 3/4 inches long. Mom and Baby are doing wonderful after a C-section and are expected to be home on Tuesday! Congratulations to Anthony and Calie! We love you guys~ (PS Macy is now three months old)

Sorry guys. I haven't posted for a while, I know. I have been sick this last week...(still) and its kind of frustrating, but life goes on. Mike has a gig in Jackson tonight and I am tagging along so I will take pictures and post them tomorrow. Other than that it's just life and it's moving along wonderfully. :D

Doctors

For all those who are wondering why I had to go to the doctor.... Thursday was my final run for my Fit for Life class. We had to run 1.5 miles. So i started off at a pretty good pace and during the first two mintues I started having trouble breathing. This unfortunetly escalated to coughing and I so I started walking. I talked with my teacher and she agreed to let me stop and try again another day. I decided to go into the health center to make sure it wasnt something serious. The doctor said that my right lung sounded constricted but my left lung was ok. He gave me an asthma treatment which he said helped but I felt like it did nothing. So I went along with his thinking of it being excercise induced asthma. He gave me an inhaler and said to try it for a day and see if it helped. So i tried it and instead of helping, it did nothing. I decided to sleep on it and see if that would help. I slept for about nine hours (yay! i felt very awake!) and was coughing less but it hurt worse and they were harder coughs. I went in today to ask him about it, and he gave me an antibiodic and said to try it and if i wasn't feeling better in two weeks to come back. So long story short my teacher will accept a doctor's note to excuse me from the final run. Thank goodness that is over. Now I just have to wait to see if I really do get better or not. :D

This weekend was fun! Mike and I went to Boise to see the Jones Zoo. Saturday Mike and Dad and Aaron spent most of the day putting in Mom's Valentines Day present (new windows for the living room). As entertainging as that was, that evening we spent time over at Aaron's house with Camille and Amy. The boys played Xbox and the girls put together a bookshelf with we then proceeded to destroy. What a stress reliever! I dont have pictures yet but as soon as i do i will post them! We got back on Monday so Mike could work. We both aren't looking forward to school tomorrow, but we will make the most of today. We did our Valentine's stuff on thursday, Mike gave me perfume and lotion and I gave him a book that he wanted. Nothing too exciting, but we enjoyed it. We also saw Dave and Tamara and Emma (really good friends of mine) which was really fun because Emma is getting so big. She has started walking which means running away.

Weekend Wonderful

This weekend was kind of crazy! Someone I know was going down to Utah and my best friend was having a really hard week, so i decided to go with her. I felt really guilty for leaving my hubbie bebause we had planned to do stuff but he said if I really wanted to and I did because she needed me. So I left saturday morning at six and drove to see her! It was so fun because we saw Amy (our old head resident) and my sister Ashley. That was so cool because I hadnt seen her apartment and I got to visit her at 'her place'. I have pictures but I will put them up later. They dont like my very much right now. It was a nice relaxing vacation even though I missed my husband lots. I know you tagged me, terrie, but my computer isnt working right at the moment so I will do it as soon as it starts working. :D Love you all!

So it is offically hump day. For all those that don't know, it means that we are halfway through the week! YA BABY! So I'm sure that all of you following this blog want to know if today was better. It was. WAHOO!!! Nothing major happened. I made it through, without losing anything or breaking anything! and got my homework done! and no bruises! YES! I feel accomplished. So with a big thanks to a few people- desi, gracie, melissa, sam, and both of my moms.... I DID IT! WOOT! or for those at apartment 111... a woop a cha! (i dont know if that is how you really spell it but cha know what I mean!) Now I am sitting in my lovely sweats and will comence the rest of my day with chips and salsa, ice cream, and stardust!

So life has been absolutley insane for the two days that have been this week. And yes its only tuesday!

MONDAY!

First and foremost I have a nasty bruise from archery because i didnt wear my armguard. Solution? easy right? wear an armguard. Ya so about that.... I still managed to give myself a nasty red mark with the arm guard on mind you.... Nothing else notable really happend until I almost forgot about a group meeting I was supposed to be at. So I had like two mintues to get across campus to it. Why is this important? Because I was the group leader! fabulous!
Secondly as I am rushing to get to this meeting, I realize that I misplaced my flash drive... which of course had our powerpoint on it! Lucky for me I had emailed it to everyone so I had a copy in my email.... *sigh of relief*
All that was ok, I survived home again home again jiggety jigg.....

TUESDAY!

Wonders of wonders the next day was FABULOUS TOO!... I had to present in English and of course you have to look professional and all that good stuff. But i had a workout class so I was going to shower and get all doled up after. Mike started work at seven am and I just brought my bag of goody's with me so I could get ready. While working on homework, I realized that I was missing my notebook. This was not just any notebook, nooooooo. It had to be the one that had everything for all my classes in it. I had two choices to make- take the twenty minutes that I had right then or get it after my class. I opted for the latter. So I went to class and then went home to get my notebook and shower and all that fun stuff. Mind you I had excatly one hour to shower, blow dry my hair, do my makeup, get into my professional wardrobe and get my notebook and be in class ready to learn. I was so impressed with my self. I did it with in thirty, found a parking spot and had a chance to catch my breath.
So I went through the rest of my day.... Until English. I am having issues with that class (which I will not dicuss at the present moment because it would take up a lot of space). After my class I put my stuff in my backpack and lo and behold I was missing a text book. Dang it all! So I went to look at my classroom. No book. This was not good. We have a quiz on thursday and I need it badly! So I emailed my teacher and left it at that. (for all you sitting on the edge of your seat yes I found it. My teacher took it to the communications department and so I picked it up there YAY). Going on from there I went to the library to check out an extra credit book for the english class. But I run into a slight problem.... My Icard wasnt in my wallet (this is unfortuntely a frequent problem for me) I left it in the pants that I had changed out of! So I didnt get it.
All in all this has been a fabulous week.... but wait there is more!
Mike had to practice his trombone, so I went to my friends place in Mountain Pines. It was all great fun, and then Mike came to get me and we left. So those wonderful people that we all love that check the apartment parking lot had come by, and since we didnt have a sticker, THEY BOOTED US! Mike was only in the apartment 5 minutes or so and they had come by and booted us! So we called them and said PLEASE COME UNBOOT OUR CAR WE WANT TO GO HOME! So the guy came and asked mike how long he had been there. THANK THE LORD, the guy gave us it half off so instead of being 40 dollars it was only 20. YAY! Now I am at home thinking I should go to bed and tomorrow will be a great day. Before I do, I just want to do a gratitude list in hopes that it will make me feel better.... We'll see what tomorrow brings for that.... YIKES! BRING IT ON! I'VE HAD ABOUT ALL I CAN TAKE!

So I know its been a while since I have posted. Mike and I have been super busy with homework and classes. I am still looking for a job (not going so hot) and Mike is working at the computer helpf desk still. I lost my wallet and then found it again. (it was kind of stressful!) I have fallen twice on the ice, and so i feel like i have hit my quota of falling this winter and won't do it again! (cross my fingers) I am almost done with my fit for life class. Other than that its just getting to know people in our complex and people in the ward. :D we love you all!
